Continuing the tradition that began in 2017, the 2018 BYU Rocketry Junior Team will work to design and manufacture a High Power rocket in-house during the 2018-2019 academic year. This rocket will carry a scientific payload to 10,000 ft. above ground level right here in Utah!
The BYU Rocketry Mission is to provide students with hands-on experience that will enable them to become leaders and innovators in the space industry. Starting in 2017, club leadership began actively finding new ways to challenge club members to develop skills and apply problem-solving techniques.
The BYU Rocketry Junior Team, Project 42, was composed of eight Level-1-Certified club members that spent the 2017-2018 academic school year designing and building a High Power rocket called Quasar. The students were majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Applied & Computation Mathematics (ACME). Their rocket launched to an altitude over 10,000 feet on April 14, 2018, right at home in Utah!
