After successfully participating in the 2017 and 2018 Spaceport America Cups, BYU Rocketry continued building upon past knowledge by attending the 2019 Spaceport America Cup. The team was composed of 7 engineering students who spent the 2018-2019 school year designing, manufacturing, and testing a rocket called Photon. Of those 7 team members, two students spent the year building a custom cold-gas thruster payload to fly inside of Photon. The rocket was test launched in Utah with the Utah Rocket Club (UROC) before the team traveled to Las Cruces, NM for the competition.
